I love art that depicts religion. Always a fan of renaissance painters. Even more than a really good depiction of Jesus and Mary, I love a really, really bad depiction of some religious scene. I hope to share my findings with the world because bad art should not be hidden.

Eostre
That is an image of Eostre, the goddess for whom yesterday's holiday was named. This image is an expanded thumbnail from a collection of animal versions of gods & goddesses. It's not easy to see, but she's a rabbit with the body of a woman. Kid of like Jessica Rabbit, but weirder.

Saint Francis
After I posted this, I kept looking through his site. It's not as bad as I first found it. The paintings are HUGE. 48" x 60" or about that big and all are $5,000 and higher. This painting of St. Francis is $12,085.00 if you're interested. It's titled "Saint Francis of Assisi, sermon to the birds" Finding this art did lead me to learn that Francis had stigmata.

Buddha
The art on this post isn't bad in the sense that it's poorly executed. It's more bad in the sense that it's unholy. If Buddhists believed in hell, these artists might be condemned there. Luckily, there isn't a hell in Buddhism. Personally, I think that all religions opens themselves up to humor quite readily and if you don't see that, you're too uptight. Please check out the source for this, I promise you some laughs and some quality art.

Gandi
This is a felted wool Gandi. It was created by Maggie Stern. I found this on a blog, though, not on her home page. I know he's not a god, or a God, but he is a religious/spiritual leader.

Moses
I'm not trying to copy Regretsy, but I couldn't resist this Moses painting from Etsy. It has a tampon to part the "red sea" and Moses' head is a vajayjay. Based on the listing, I think the artist knows it's bad, at least in concept.

Hello Jesus
This is beyond awesome. I love how they left the bow on under the crown of thorns. The artist also has a Hello Zombie on his page.

Mother Theresa Pancakes
This is by one of my favorite artists. I discovered Dan Lacey during the 2008 Presidential election. He had several paintings of Obama, McCain and Palin with pancakes and unicorns. Most of them were with the candidates in various states of undress. I wish I understood what the pancake imagery represents, but I do not get it at all.
